Bascome recommends Bermuda College

Sixteen years old when he graduated from Berkeley Institute in 1996, Jenson Bascome says he felt "simply too young to go abroad to school'' so he chose Bermuda College.

Pursuing an Associate Degree in Science Mr. Bascome concedes was more strenuous than he had anticipated, "so my advisor suggested that I stretch out my course load a bit and take three years to complete the programme.'' Taking that advice Mr. Bascome was among the graduates this June and is now waiting to hear back from Temple University in Philadelphia.

"I've applied for the physical-therapy programme but the field is very competitive so I'm really hoping to get in.'' While clearly nervous about his admission, he is confident in every other area, including his ability. "I had thought of doing medicine '' he said "but I noticed that I kept attending to my friends and their injuries and it was always sports related, and being a sportsman myself, I thought this area would better suit me.'' In praise of the education he's received at the Bermuda College Mr. Bascome said he would strongly recommend for high school graduates to attend.

"I would definitely recommend others leaving high school to come here. It is a good institution with excellent professors and the classes are small. When the student to teacher ratio is as small as it is here, you are able to get the sort of one on one instruction that would be virtually impossible overseas.'' Mr. Bascome contended.

"There are really so many benefits, and a big one is the stability you get by being at home in Bermuda. The College environment is a big change from high school and by staying in Bermuda at least you don't feel completely bewildered during that adjustment.'' Student: Jenson Bascome has completed Bermuda College.
