`Bermuda cottage diary' revised
Taylor Rouja's Bermuda Cottage Diary.
First published in 1983, and out of print for some time, a revised edition has now been issued.
The Diary, which covers a period of some five years through 1977, consists of a few, almost random entries for each month that record Bermuda's changing seasons.
The book is not specifically about the cottage, but the world around it, capturing the cycle of nature, as seen through Mrs. Rouja's observant eye, as she traces the annual kaleidoscope of plants and flowering shrubs, birds and other small creatures.
Despite its modest size, the author evokes the sights and sounds of Bermuda's nature parade that will linger in the memory.
Since its publication, Bermuda Cottage Diary has been used in local schools and in writers' workshops.
Mrs. Rouja, who is a research assistant at the Government Archives, originally wrote a Bermuda Cottage Diary column for the Bermuda Sun, some of which are included in this slim volume. She is also a contributor to The Bermudian magazine.
Bermuda Cottage Diary costs $7.95 and is on sale at major bookstores.
