"The walk will serve to remind us of the friends and loved ones that we have lost to terminal illnesses,'' said Geneva Humdy Woodley of the Friends of Hospice, the fundraising arm of Agape House.

There will be two walking routes inside the Botanical Gardens and a third 5K route outside the Garden "for those who want to rev a little higher''.

And organisers promise the event will be a joyous and fun one.

"No tears for us -- simply a celebration of life,'' explained Ms Humdy Woodley. "The event will include music and art as a background to our walk.'' And children will be able to get in on the action since a special kiddie route, complete with face painting and costumed characters, has been planned.

The Friends of the Hospice is asking the public to pick up their pledges in locations throughout Hamilton. it is hoped that every participating adult will raise a minimum of $50 in pledges to earn a Walk To Remember T-shirt.

The Walk will get underway at 9.15 a.m. this Sunday.
