That's the conclusion reached by literary ghostbusters John Cox, Mac Musson and Joan Skinner, whose book, "Bermuda's Favourite Haunts,'' published three years ago in hardcover, has sold out.

Their tales from Bermuda's `twilight zone', gathered together some three years ago, has proved so popular that a soft-back edition has now been issued.

This time around, it boasts a glossy burgundy cover, but still has artist Sheilagh Head's painting of Devonshire Dock on the front and all of Mrs.

Musson's distinctive pen, ink and pencil sketches which accompany each tale.

"We received a letter from this company called `Invisible Ink' which, as you might guess, specialises in books on ghosts and hauntings. There is obviously a market for books on the supernatural! They said they had enjoyed the book, and that it was beautiful to look at as well. They wanted to list our book in their catalogue and we noticed that all their listings were paper-backs,'' says Mrs. Musson. "That really provided the push we needed to go ahead with this soft-back version. We'd been thinking about it for some time, because we don't have any more hard-back copies to sell to the stores. Of course, the best thing about this new edition is that, apart from the thickness of the cover, it is the same book for half the price!'' The three authors are already embroiled in a brand new collection of stories for Volume II, which they hope to publish in time for next Christmas: "We already have a lot of material but would be very pleased to hear from anyone who has their own tale to tell,'' exclaims Mrs. Musson.

So far, she feels, the favourite story in this first book is probably that of Winton in Devonshire, an ancient house which Mrs. Musson's own family leased for a time, quite unaware, as they signed the lease, that the history of hauntings there went back 200 years -- and would continue after they left.

"Everybody has their favourite ghost story, of course,'' she says, "but I think the strange goings-on at Winterhaven in Smith's seemed to intrigue a lot of people. Now that was a very active ghost! Personally, I've always liked the story about the Cathedral when a visitor to the Island saw her husband in the grounds talking to the wall. But as far as he was concerned, he was talking to a gentleman who was telling him about the `recent' fire that had burned down the Cathedral. But as he told his wife about this, he turned round to find the `gentleman' had disappeared!'' Bermuda's Favourite Haunts, which literally adds another dimension to Bermuda's unique history and cultural heritage, is now on sale at $14.95.
