Bermudians asked to help redefine `The American Dream'

Bermuda enjoyed a 78.5 percent rise in cruise ship passengers last week.Up to 3,388 passengers came here between October 25 and 31 -- compared to just 1,898 for the same week in 1992.

Up to 3,388 passengers came here between October 25 and 31 -- compared to just 1,898 for the same week in 1992.

Overall there were 10,228 visitors last week, 17 percent more than in the same week last year.

Of these 6,798 came by plane.

Percentage occupancy levels for the cruise ships were: Song of America , 90.93; Horizon , 87.59; and Statendam , 72.51.

Visitors who have flocked to the Island this year now number 518,449.

The figure, for January 1 to October 31, is 11.7 percent up on that for the same period in 1992.

Some 365,693 people have flown here; 152,119 have arrived by cruise ship; and 637 by sea and air.
