BHA reports drop in visitors

the latest figures released. The Bermuda Hotel Association reported the final overall occupancy for last month at 34.6 percent, 1.8 percent down on last year but 0.9 percent up on 1997.

Projections for the next three months are up overall on last year and 1997.

Rooms in hotels and cottage colonies booked by March 1 for the same month were 46.5 percent, up 2.9 percent on 1998 and two percent on the year before.

For April the level was 57.3 percent, a slight drop of 0.8 percent on 1998.

And for May, bookings are up 4.1 percent from 1998 to 55 percent but slightly down on 1997.
