changed hands for the second time in six months.

New owners Mr. Herbie Adderley, 48, and his wife, Elizabeth, 35, bought the business in May for an undisclosed sum from Mrs. Betty Compagnon.

Mr. Adderley is better known as a construction operator who has developed several condominium projects on the Island.

The Adderleys are believed to have paid substantially more than the $60,000 which Mrs. Compagnon paid for the restaurant last November.

Mrs. Compagnon had bought the business for a second time from Mrs. Kathy D'Estelle Roe and Mrs. Lesley Hoskins during the height of the recession.

Mrs. D'Estelle Roe and Mrs. Hoskins took a $205,000 loss on the business over four years leaving them with debts which they said would take them several years to pay off.

At the time, Mrs. D'Estelle Roe blamed part of the restaurant's problems on the alleged refusal of Mrs. Compagnon, who has owned the restaurant's location for several years, to renegotiate the size of their rent during the recession.

Mrs. Compagnon had first sold the business for $115,000 to private detective Mr. Bill Black in 1988.

Mr. and Mrs. Adderley have kept on all of The Blue Moon's staff at its Bermudiana Arcade site.

They have also redecorated the interior, put in new ceilings and introduced a salad bar in a move designed to tap into the modern trend of healthier eating.

A delicatessen section is planned.

Mrs. Adderley said: "We realise that more people are taking care with what they eat these days and we want to cater to them.

"But that is not to say we will be doing away with fries or any of our traditional food.'' The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

NEW OWNERS -- Mr. Herbie Adderley and his wife Elizabeth are the new owners of the Blue Moon restaurant.
