Bootsie bringing top American comics to the Clay House Inn
A Bermudian comedian has pledged to bring some of America's best comedy to the Island.
Bootsie, who has already played three sell-out performances, will be promoting his first show on Sunday.
It features comedians who have appeared on American TV comedy shows as well as local talent.
Derek Fox "Shante'' made a cameo appearance on the recent Eddie Murphy movie "Boomerang, as well as appearing on Apollo and Def Comedy Jam. Another Def Comedy Jam favourite who also appeared on Comic View is Alonzo "Hamburger'' Jones. Also on stage will be internationally renowned ventriloquist Pete Michaels and Woody D.
Bootsie stressed that all three acts do not use profanities so no-one would be upset by their stage shows.
Local acts include Bootsie, Triple Threat dancers, reggae group Squinty and Wildy and music men MC Trevor and Craig "Bubbles'' Darrell.
Bootsie said: "I want to bring these top quality acts to Bermuda on the last Sunday in every month if I can.
"I believe people should laugh and feel good and if they come along to the show they will do that.'' Bootsie decided to become a comedian while involved in an examination at college. He said: "I just said that I don't want to do this and I moved into comedy.
"I have been successful here and had offers from the States which I will look at later. Now I want to promote a few shows and bring some fun to Bermuda.'' He said he hopes the show will also encourage budding young Bermudian comedians to take up the comedy stage. And he will be bringing in children's performers at a later date.
There are two shows on Sunday, the first begins at 7 p.m. and the second at 10 p.m. at the Clay House Inn, North Shore, Devonshire. Tickets are $20.
