BUEI is a major educational attraction
world's oceans, which cover more than 70 percent of the earth's surface.
Friendly guides, renowned international advisors and trained volunteers bring alive the secrets of the sea. Interest to discover more is stimulated by the interactive exhibits and on-going educational programmes.
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is an Ocean Discovery Centre. It showcases our relationship with this final frontier and incorporating science and the art of underwater exploration. The Institute is the first new attraction of its kind and calibre to be built in Bermuda for almost 40 years.
The BUEI is a not-for-profit institution and a registered charity. Funding for construction, creation and ongoing programmes are provided by the public. The Institute aims to share the ever-expanding knowledge of the oceans so that the people of Bermuda and the world may explore the sea with understanding, excitement and respect.
Visitors may reach the BUEI by bus, by foot or via the Bermuda Train Company.
The Institute is open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day.
Admission is valid all day and good for multiple re-entry.
Visitors may also purchase two special packages, which include admission to BUEI. The Heritage Passport is a multi-museum pass allowing admission to 8 attractions on the island over a four day period for one price. It is available at the Visitors Service Bureaux and selected major hotels. The Bermuda Train Company offers a City Tour, which also includes all day travel on board as well as admission to BUEI and the National Gallery. Members of course, are admitted free! BUEI tourists : "Oceans Revealed Exhibit'' is an educational experience for children and adults.
