Police report nothing happened.

Police began receiving calls from the public around 4.30 p.m. of youths shouting on Church Street near the Terminal and the exit of the City Hall driveway.

Police report that officers attended the scene to find young people milling about but saw nothing untoward even while phone calls kept pouring in.

Broadcast media reports claim that a large knife or shiny object was brandished and some of the 50 youths spilled into rush hour traffic before heading off in the direction of North Street.

The knife wielder was described as being in his early 20s.

Like Police, The Royal Gazette attended the scene but did not see any violent behaviour among the dozens of young men standing on Nellie's Walk.

Between 4.30 and 4.45 p.m. adults wishing to get to taxis and to the City Hall parking lot had to run a gauntlet of cursing youths, but they seem to have shrugged it off with one man saying: "Oh, it's just kids being kids.''
