Canada's oldest ballet comes to town

The company, founded in 1939, performs classical and contemporary ballet and has made frequent appearances in Europe, the US, the Far East, including the Republic of China and recently became the first Canadian company to tour the former Soviet Union.

Principal dancer Laura Graham, who in 1990, won top honours in the famous Intenational Ballet Competition in Varna, will head the list of dancers for Bermuda and the repertoire will include well-known ballets by Bournonville, Balanchine and famous Canadian choreographer, Brian MacDonald.

The Royal Winnipege Ballet will perform Programme I at City Hall on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, and Programme II on Sunday and Monday, November 8 and 9 at 8 p.m.

There will be a Gala Performance on the opening Friday, with a champagne reception with the dancers after the show, in the National Gallery. Tickets will be $50, and $25 for all other performances.

Advance reservations can be made by calling 293-8775 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
