The two day drive will see 30 volunteers contacting businesses as part of a plan to bring new faces into the island's main business association.

The Chamber now has about 600 members representing eight different industry sectors.

Ms Carolyn Mello, executive vice president of the Chamber, said it was important to continually invite new members and new faces into the organisation.

The membership drive is part of ongoing efforts by the Chamber to recruit members to broaden the base of corporate representation.

Ms Mello said: "The business community in Bermuda has been undergoing dramatic change over the past four years and the Chamber is having to be more proactive and more creative in managing issues of critical importance to this community.

"It is vital, particularly at this time in Bermuda's history, that we have new faces and younger members, from all sectors of the community, join in on the important work we are doing.'' Ms Mello added that the benefits of being a Chamber member include business referrals and networking opportunities; representation on issues impacting business; leadership development workshops and small business advisory services.
