Almost 650 walkers joined the walk in April and raised the money which was shared equally among The Learning Centre, Agape House, the Red Cross and the Physical Abuse Centre.

The walk has been held annually since 1988 when it was started as a challenge between three employees of Johnson and Higgins, of Bermuda, to complete the distance.

Since that year, when $43,0000 was raised, the event has amassed a total of $515,000 which has benefitted 28 charities.

The four chosen this year were from a list of 25 entries and in order to be considered, each organisation had to submit proposals including financial and mission statements and specific details of how the money would be spent.
