Child aid plans silent moment
silently thinking of the starving children in Somalia.
Child Aid will be holding the Minute of Silence on Wednesday, December 9, at 1 p.m. on the steps of City Hall.
The eerie atmosphere will be heightened by the tolling of church bells for every child needing assistance in the world.
And the group is asking for one dollar per person to help relieve the suffering of the children.
Bermuda's children will be on the steps as the Island recognises the campaign which is taking place worldwide.
Child Aid is looking for people to organise a minute's silence in workplaces and organisations. There will be a countdown on local radio to lead into the silence.
It is asking for donations of a dollar, or more, which can be made at all three of Bermuda's banks and most supermarkets.
Throughout the Minute of Silence campaign special appearances will be made by Ms Zalika Millett, 16, and Ms Khalilah Smith, 15, who won the 1992 Childfest Talent Search.
They will later represent Bermuda with Mr. Mark Lomas, 15, at the Danny Kaye International Children's Awards in The Hague, Holland.
Highlights of Zalika, Khalilah and Mark's outstanding performances in Holland, will be broadcast around the world.
