Civics book unveiled

The Bermuda Civics text is packed with information, among other things, about Government departments, the economy, and the justice system.

It opens with a definition of citizenship, and has chapters on the community and how people behave.

The 84-page book has been put together by teachers of civics, and about 2,500 copies are available.

It was reviewed by Department of Education staff. Curriculum Coordinator Mrs.

Molly White supervised the writing and production.

Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira praised the book as it was unveiled on Wednesday.

Dr. Terceira presented copies to Hamilton's library. They will also be available at local bookstores.

"I've only managed to read part of it so far, but I've been immensely impressed,'' he said afterwards. "I would recommend every Bermudian gets a copy. It really is first class.'' Dr. Terceira said the text would be of use to students, including those going overseas to study politics, sociology, law and commerce.
