During action on Friday, both the Netts' Senior and Intermediate teams played against squads from the American Netball Association at Medgar Evers Sports Complex in Brooklyn, New York.

The Seniors endured a pair of hard fought and very physical games, defeating the contending champions Kardinals 39-37, and then holding the Pacesetters to a 20-20 draw in a shortened 40-minute encounter.

The Netts Intermediate team, made up of players from its senior and Second Division squads, lost both their games, 28-21 and 24-13. RUGBY RUG As brand new members of the International Rugby Football Board, the Bermuda Football Rugby Union are busy getting ready for their debut in the World Cup qualifying rounds, more specifically a game against the USA Eagles in Bermuda next March.

Workouts began yesterday at Horseshoe Bay as the National squad began the selection process for the team that will suit up against the Eagles, a top-flight squad that promises to provide a tough challenge for Bermuda.

If Bermuda triumphs in that game they will go on to play the winner of a South American play-off on a home and away basis. Participating countries will be Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Chile. Argentina were winners of the 1991 World Cup.

Bermuda will form part of the Americas qualifying zone, which has been allotted two of 16 places for the finals. Only Canada has been given a bye in the zone because they reached the quarter-finals during the last World Cup.

Members of the Bermuda squad must be residents of the country for at least six months prior to the World Cup.

Also on the BRFU plate will be training for an exhibition game against Bristol University in September.
