Dance extravaganza: Tiny tots to adults will be on show

A lot of positive energy will take to the stage next week as the In Motion School of Dance presents their second annual celebration of dance.

And dancers ranging from tiny tots to talented adults will take part in the Energy In Motion production.

"Everyone from pre-ballet age to advanced dancers will take part in the show,'' explained owner Liz Pimentel. "There will be a myriad of levels.

"We even have adults performing.'' And she promised the show would be an extravaganza no one would want to miss.

"There's great variety in it,'' she explained. "We have a number of innovative performances and there is a lot of energy in our shows. That was one of the main comments from spectators at last year's show, that we had a lot of energy.

"I'm really impressed by the commitment by the dancers for this show and the level they have achieved,'' she added. "All of them have done really well and I just want to congratulate them.

"I'm really proud of them.'' To help offset the cost of the show's costumes, In Motion held a Trash-A-Thon in February.

"It was held in conjunction with KBB at Bernard's Park,'' said Ms Pimentel.

"The kids collected about 80 bags of trash.

"It also provided the dancers with an opportunity to meet each other. Most of them did not know who was taking classes at the school, but this provided them with the chance to meet and get to know each other.'' Ms Pimentel said the small school had grown by leaps and bounds since its inception two years ago.

"The number of students we have has doubled in the last year alone,'' she said. "Therefore we will have more dancers in the performance.'' To meet the needs of the growing student population, the school increased its teaching staff.

"We have three new teachers and choreographers, Cathy Aicardi, Jennifer Soares and Irene Hasseler-Pimentel,'' she said.

The Energy In Motion show will take place at City Hall April 28 to May 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available from In Motion after 3 p.m. and from the City Hall Box Office between 11 to 2 p.m.
