Dellwood School celebrates sirng blossoms

In celebration of March and the blossoming of spring, Dellwood Middle School will host an Open House.

The Open House and Book Fair will take place this Thursday, March 30 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The school is located on 1 North Street in Hamilton and all are invited to attend to attend.

*** The enviro-cultural group, Rock Ramblers, will hold an open-ended, informal ramble this weekend.

The two-mile ramble/picnic will take place Sunday at 9.00 a.m.

Participants are requested to arrive at 8.45 a.m. at the meeting point, in the parking lot of Astwood Park in Warwick.

Organisers recommend that ramblers wear functional walking shoes and bring snack food, a beverage and a small garbage bag for trash en route.

Each ramble benefits a different environmental or cultural service organisation and this one benefits The Bermuda Heritage Association and Museum in St. George's. A voluntary contribution of $3 per rambler will be gratefully accepted.

*** The Garden Club of Bermuda's 2000 Open Houses & Gardens season will kick off next week.

The six-week season will begin on April 5 and will run each Wednesday afternoon until May 17. There will be a break for the annual Agricultural Exhibition.

The houses being shown the first week of the season are on Salt Kettle, Harbour Road in Paget and Keith Hall Road in Warwick.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children and include all the houses in each group along with refreshments. Proceeds will be shared between horticultural related civic improvements and scholarships.

*** Masterworks Gallery are currently hosting a new artists' exhibition as part of the Artists Up Front Street programme.

The "straight from the heart'' works of Diane Whittaker will be showcased at the Gallery until April 7.

Organiser insist that Ms Whittaker's "delightful work and vibrant use of acrylics'' should not be missed.

*** Registration for the Friends of the Library's Read Around the World programme begins next week.

Each month travellers/readers get the opportunity to learn about a country from a different continent.

Next month readers between the ages of nine and 14 will explore Mexico at the Bermuda Youth Library Auditorium via food, music, slides, arts and crafts and stories.

Registration begins on April 1, at a cost of $5 per child. There are only 30 tickets per "trip''.
