Earth Day Saturday

conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Earth Day on Saturday: The 58th annual Agriculture Exhibition has introduced two new categories -- recycled designer flower pots for juniors and recycled plastics for juniors and adults -- in recognition of Earth Day this year.

The exhibition, which has attracted 2,694 entries, will be held from Thursday to Saturday at the Botanical Gardens in Paget.

Sponsored by the Bermuda Zoological Society, a guided walk of Hog Bay Level Park will be offered on Sunday. Interested parties must register by calling Bobbi Cartwright or Marilyn Starling at 293-2727.

The official opening of Blue Hole Hill Park in Hamilton Parish has been scheduled for 5.30 p.m. on April 27.

At least six guided tours of the Botanical Gardens, entitled "Plants of the Botanical Gardens,'' are to be conducted at the facility this month and next.

Curator Sarah Vallis can provide dates and times at 235-4201.

A photographic competition for secondary students will be held at Hamilton's Youth Library on May 3 and continue through May 27. The theme of the competition is the environment.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs, an Environmental Exposition is to be staged at Number One Shed in Hamilton on May 19.

"Sharing Nature With Children,'' a seminar for environmental educators by lecturer and author Joseph Cornel, has been planned for May 27 and 28. Linda Smith of the Bermuda Electric Light Company can provide details at 295-5111.

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo will hold an open house on May 27.

A Bermuda heritage food fair and the opening of a marine park is to take place at Commissioner's Park in Dockyard on May 28.
