lengthy on-air apology last month.

Bermuda Broadcasting Company accepted there were no grounds for its report which claimed hospital sources said Mr. Crane had been fired for misconduct.

The lengthy apology led the night's news on November 5.

Mr. Crane's lawyer, Juliana Jack, yesterday said: "Mr. Crane has sued for libel -- beyond that I am not permitted to comment.'' Mr. Crane claimed King Edward VII Memorial Hospital bosses had forced his resignation after claiming they were unhappy with his ability to manage projects and alleging they came in over budget.

However, the Bermuda Hospitals Board claimed Mr. Crane had resigned voluntarily.

Last night Bermuda Broadcasting News Director Darlene Ming refused to comment about the matter. Lawyers for Mr. Crane are also suing the Bermuda Hospitals Board for unfair dismissal.
