Enjoy an unusual Sunday morning breakfast as Flash Harry's guests!
Bermuda's only Clydesdale, and believed to be the Island's biggest horse, Flash Harry is giving tourists and residents a unique start to Sunday mornings. "Champagne and very exotic breakfasts'', are served aboard a wagon pulled by the horse who is called Flash Harry, and driven by Mr. Eddie Roque.
Says owner Mrs. Ann Powell: "We do these breakfasts by special request, and everyone has such fun. We run the breakfasts in summer and winter, but always, very early, on Sunday mornings, when there is virtually no traffic on the roads.'' She also arranges other drives ("it's very popular for anniversaries'') and Flash Harry can also be used for weddings. "He's very nice natured and is quite happy pulling a carriage,'' she says." He certainly is a magnificent horse. He came here from Connecticut and he took up two stables in a container on the way down, because he is so huge!'' Indeed the breakfast ride was a relaxing way to start off Sunday. Living took a trip this past Sunday and by the time we returned our stomachs were full and we were reminded of the days of old when horses were the only way to get about Bermuda.
Along Middle Road from Mrs. Powell's home in Warwick we went and started off the morning with champagne and orange juice. This was followed by some hardboiled eggs which in turn was followed by French bread with jam.
And then came the delicious sausages (English of course!).
Flash Harry took us down Morgan's Road and back along Harbour Road for a beautiful return journey.
Wagon Picnics may be arranged in advance by telephoning 238-2154 or 234-7419 in advance.
