The Christmas Angel Tree Appeal seeks to look after children who are often le ft out during the celebration of Christ's birthday, said PFB spokesman Jack Harris.

"Prison inmates who are the mothers and fathers of these children are often helpless during this time of the year, which is highlighted by family gatherings and being together,'' he said.

"None have the mobility to provide greetings for their children and few have money to buy gifts.'' PFB circulates forms amongst inmates to allow them to include their children in the Angel Tree programme.

The group's volunteers then contact the children's caregivers to gather information on the youngsters' ages, gender, sizes and Christmas wishes.

"We ensure that the gifts go directly to the recipients, as volunteers carry out deliveries as well as shopping for the items,'' Mr. Harris said.

Financial gifts may be sent directly to Prison Fellowship Bermuda, P.O. Box HM 2216, Hamilton HMJX.
