Footballers score for charity
aid two causes.
The Bermuda Life Skills Group and The Family Resource Network are each $2,200 better off following a recent Sunday Football League charity tournament.
Organiser Mark Evans said despite a day of competition, it was the team effort in fundraising.
He said: "We had a lot of people taking part, about 12 teams and 15 people in each, so it was a great effort...
"The sponsors of the event, Bermuda Motors Limited, also donated about $2,200.'' June Augustus received one of the cheques on behalf of the Family Resource Network.
Cathy Belvedere, deputy chairman of The Bermuda Life Skills Group, received the other.
Ms Belvedere said the cash had come at the perfect time for the group which educates young people on the dangers of drug use.
"We have some public service announcements we want to run on the television and were short of funding to do it, so this has come at just the right time,'' she said.
On target: Anthony Steede, of Bermuda Motors (L) presents a cheque to June Augustus, of the Family Resource Network, while Mark Evans (R), presents a cheque to Cathy Belvedere.
