Friends help out George
Baltimore after being diagnosed with a serious illness.
And now friends have rallied behind him to lend moral and financial support.
Next month they will hold a gala benefit to offset his medical expenses.
Spokesman for F.O.G. (Friends of George) John Instone yesterday said J.B.
Productions have generously agreed to stage their play "Wrong for Each Other'' on September 5 and 6 at BMDS Daylesford Theatre as a benefit for Mr.
Rushe.
"This wonderful romantic comedy has been playing to packed houses in Dockyard for some months,'' Mr. Instone noted.
Two benefit performances will be `black-tie optional' and will be preceded by a champagne reception at 7 p.m. with refreshments to follow after the show.
"Naturally, the objective is to raise as much money as possible for George, so we're charging $75 per ticket for the show,'' said Mr. Instone, a long-time friend of Mr. Rushe.
"A large number of tickets have already been sold to friends and well-wishers and we fully hope and expect the performances to completely sell out.'' The benefit will be one of a series of ventures to raise money for Mr. Rushe and his family.
"The funds are intended to supplement George's income while he is unable to work and to assist with expenses which are not covered by health or other insurance,'' Mr. Instone explained.
Anyone who would like tickets is asked to call 238-3282 as soon as possible.
Alternatively, anyone wishing to assist in any other way is welcome to call Mr. Instone at Cable & Wireless on 297-7148 during office hours.
