Island rap duo featured on BET show
week.
The group Ordinary Gentleman strutted their stuff on Black Entertainment Television's nightly Video Soul cable show, which features black musicians.
Viewers saw rap duo Malik Showers and Jeremy Blades for the first time in their video called "Reality''.
Showers told The Royal Gazette the showing of the video was made possible by the group's director/editor Mr. Maurice Foley who now works in the music department at the BET office in Washington DC.
"Three weeks ago he showed the tape to people in his department and they said they would use it in their Home Jam segment of the show,'' Mr. Showers said.
"This part of the show is designed to show aspiring acts to a wide audience.'' The group have split up since the making of the video and Mr. Showers has decided to take his act solo.
"Right now I have been working in the studio developing solo acts with rap music. My music deals with issues concerning late teens and people in their early twenties.'' When asked how he felt seeing himself on the popular television show Mr.
Showers said: "It was a mixture of joy and disappointment because the group is broken up. However, I'm still glad it came on.
"Everyone needs that kind of exposure to make it and it's a step in the right direction.'' Television viewers will be able to see Mr. Showers again in his solo video featuring three rap songs on the locally produced Al and Chris Original Video Show.
