Last chance to see exhibitions
One is `The Home Comin',' the exhibition of sculpture by British-based Bermudian artist, Bill Ming, which was the focus of attention when the Queen visited the gallery in March. Mr. Ming's work has attracted favourable attention in Britain, where he is the first holder of the Liverpool John Moore University Fellowship, funded by the Henry Moore Foundation.
Also closing this Friday is a retrospective of one of Bermuda's most popular artists, Canadian-born John Kaufmann. His show, entitled Visions of Tranquillity, includes some of his major oil `impressionist' paintings from the past 20 years. Mr. Kaufmann was the conceptual designer for the interior of the Bermuda National Gallery.
Admission to the Gallery is $3 (children are free) and weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Gallery Shop is also open and carries a large collection of art books, cards and notelets.
