Route Seven, which runs from Hamilton to Dockyard serving the South Shore beaches and hotels, has been generally well received since it started at the end of April.

A Government spokesman said: "Some trips have been used more than others.

However, it is felt that it is too early to assess the extent of the permanent need for the service.

"During the summer months, it will certainly be of benefit to visitors and residents travelling to and from hotels and beaches.'' The service provides additional trips leaving Hamilton at 7.25 p.m., 8.25 p.m.

and 9.35 p.m., Monday to Friday. It leaves Dockyard at 8.35 p.m., 9.35 p.m.

and 10.35 p.m.
