Local AI to mark UN Rights day
The Bermuda branch of Amnesty International will on Friday hold its eighth annual service in honour of the United Nations' International Human Rights Day.
PLP Shadow Minister for Human Affairs and Information Ms Renee Webb will speak about human rights concerning women and children which is to be the theme of this year's events.
The service begins in Victoria Park at noon and runs until 12:50 p.m. Should it rain, it will be held at Astwood Hall on Church Street.
MAN IN HOSPITAL AFTER STABBING CRM Man in hospital after stabbing A 30-year-old Sandys Parish man was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after being stabbed during a fight Monday afternoon.
Police arrived on the scene, Hook and Ladder Lane in Sandys, and found the man had been stabbed a number of times.
A hospital spokesperson said yesterday he was in satisfactory condition.
A 24-year-old Sandys man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
UBP AGM SET FOR TOMORROW PTL UBP AGM set for tomorrow Two United Bermuda Party officials will step down at the party's annual general meeting tomorrow.
Deputy chairs Mr. Brian Adams and Sen. Linda Milligan-Whyte will be giving up their posts for personal reasons, chairman Mr. Gary Pitman said yesterday.
They will be replaced by Ms Sheila Gomez and Mr. Tilman Darrell.
Mr. Pitman said executive officer Mrs. Kathy Gibbons, who also left her post for personal reasons, would eventually be replaced. However, the issue would not be brought up at the AGM as she was a paid officer.
Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan will address the AGM on activities of the past year and where the party is heading.
CONCERTS IN PARK END WITH CAROLS ENT Concerts in Park end with carols The Bank of Butterfield together with the Corporation of Hamilton will next Sunday present the last of the 1994 Concert in the Park Series.
The final concert will hold a more traditional focus with performances by Bermuda's leading gospel choirs and Christmas carolling under the stars.
Audience participation will be encouraged.
"We invited all the children to come dressed in a Christmas costume such as angels and wise men,'' a Bank spokesperson said.
It is scheduled to take place in Victoria Park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Prosecuting, Insp. Peter Duffy said that on November 28 at 10 a.m. Police saw Roland T. Outerbridge, of Bulkhead Drive, sitting on a low ledge on Queen Steet drinking from a brown paper bag.
"As Outerbridge put the bag up to his mouth he looked towards the officers and placed the bag on the sidewalk,'' Insp. Duffy said.
Police opened the bag and found a bottle of wine.

The female occupant reported someone entered her Cox's Hill apartment on Monday evening and took cash from her jacket pocket.
MARIJUANA TRIAL IS ADJOURNED CTS Marijuana trial is adjourned The trial of two St. George's women accused of smuggling into Bermuda more than $100,000 worth of marijuana was adjourned yesterday for medical reasons.
Jacqueline Brangman and Sharon Tyrrell have pleaded not guilty to the charge and also to possessing the drug.
The two women were ordered to appear for mention in Supreme Court today so lawyer Mr. Philip Perinchief could give an explanation of his client's request for an adjournment due to medical reasons.
