The couple, from Somerset, were presented with their $1,400 prize recently by Home Paint Supplies Company, which also presented $500 to the Bermuda TB Cancer and Health Association.

The money was raised during the store's recent `Look Better, Feel Better' promotion.

Customers who bought a tin of Pratt and Lambert paint were given the opportunity to either donate $1 to the charity or receive a $1 refund on the price they paid.

All those people who opted to donate to the TB, Cancer and Health Association were placed in the draw, with the winner receiving a holiday voucher and spending money.

Mrs. Gibbons said she and her husband were delighted to have won, but they had not yet worked out where they would go on holiday.

She added: "It was a lovely surprise. We were totally shocked to have won. We have never won anything before. Maybe now our luck is changing.

"We have a few places in mind to go on holiday, but we are still thinking about it.

"It's really nice to have it to look forward to.'' Dorothy Morgan-Swan, of the charity, said the $500 received would be used to help build the Island's proposed cancer resource centre.

She said: "The resource centre is going to take an awful lot of money, but every dollar counts and this is very gratefully received. It all adds up.'' All smiles: Home Paint Supplies Company's Eugene Simmons presents $500 to Dorothy Morgan-Swan of the Bermuda TB Cancer and Health Association (C), and the holiday voucher to Frederick and Virginia Gibbons.
