For out-bound Bermudians the most popular destination this summer is Orlando, Florida. "It's always been a hot spot,'' said Franklin Travel agent Tiffany Smith.

Orlando boasts some of Florida's most exciting attractions including Sea World, Epcot Centre (Disney World), Universal Studios and Busch Gardens, Mr.

Smith said.

One could assume the reason for this trend is due to Bermuda's lack of amusement parks and shopping malls -- while Florida is abundant with such places, he added.

Also with children out of school for the summer, now is the perfect time to go on family vacations, said Cynthia Smith of Travel Connection.

The Big Red Boat is currently promoting Disney's 25th anniversary celebrations with free fares for children. "This is definitely influencing,'' she added.

"I doubt the weather is a factor -- Bermuda and Florida share similar weather patterns which is probably another reason why it's so popular. Why leave beautiful summer weather for anything less.'' Yet another favourite vacation spot is the South Caribbean. More and more people are taking Caribbean cruises as the excellent prices include food and entertainment, they get the most for their money, said Mr. Smith.

Other popular destinations include New Orleans and Las Vegas. Bermudians enjoy these places as it gives them the "opportunity to see the shows and gamble'' as casinos are prohibited on the Island, said Tiffany Smith.

Coming in not too far behind is Atlanta due to its "reasonably priced malls -- we all know Bermudians love to shop,'' commented Mr. Smith.

Department of Tourism Minister David Dodwell said that Bermuda is also a "world favourite destination'' with attractions of its own. Natural beauty and friendliness are two of the things that keep Bermuda in such high regards with visitors and locals alike.
