Musical benefit for St. Anne's

The musical afternoon is part of an effort by former Cultural Affairs officer Ruth Thomas to raise funds for the restoration of St. Anne's Church in Southampton.

The performance, called "Praise Ye The Lord'', will be held at St. Anne's on Sunday, April 18 at 4 p.m.

The programme will feature singers Gary Burgess, Marcelle Clemens, Grace Landry and Edrene Malcolm performing favourite spirituals and hymns such as "Go Down Moses'', "I Feel Like A Motherless Child'' and "Amazing Grace''.

The singing will be interspersed with readings by Ruth Thomas, Gary Phillips, Leo Mills and Grace Rawlins.

And Wendell (Shine) Hayward and Lloyd Matthew will be the instrumentalists for the afternoon.

Schomika Ingham, a member of Jackson School and the National Dance Theatre, will be performing a liturgical dance.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens. Call 238-0056 for tickets.
