After six months of production, the hour-long film will be broadcast on Thursday night at 8 p.m. on ZBM TV9/Cable 3.

"We wanted it to clear up the perspective of entertainment in Bermuda,'' Gladwin Simmons of Dread and Baha said this week. "It will show the importance of music and social development.'' Pulling together interviews, old film footage, and still photos to depict the history of black music in Bermuda since the 1930s, the film is part of ambitious plans to benefit the Bermuda Musicians and Entertainers Benevolent Fund.

Viewers will see black and white film of music legends Lance Hayward, The Talbot Brothers, and Michael Curtis Clarke.

Jazz drummer Clarence (Tootsie) Bean, promoter Olive Trott and dancer Marlene Minks, in interviews, offer candid views of the period and on the decline of steady work in the hotels.
