My kind of place

Julia Morley, president of the Miss World Organisation and wife of its founder Eric Morley, has been a frequent visitor to Bermuda and to the Elbow Beach Hotel, over the past 30 years. The couple, who live in London, were in Bermuda last year and plan to return later this year.

"I think what I like the most is the beach at Elbow Beach. It's not just a beach, it's a way of life. Recreational manager Micky Caines and all the lads who work on the beach - it's not just that they serve the ice cream, and hand out the towels and the beach chairs, they create a family atmosphere. And Micky treats everybody so nicely. That's the key. He's able to read people so well. There are a lot of places that have beautiful beaches, but I believe a country is only as nice as its people. We love Bermuda, it's such a beautiful island. You can go around any corner in Bermuda and see a beautiful scene. But with Elbow Beach, we have a lot of happy memories. Our daughter, Kate, spent her last holiday in Bermuda at the Elbow Beach. She died when she was a teenager. It's sad but it's also very nice. She enjoyed herself and everybody there was so good to her. I think Elbow Beach really stands out because we spent so many hours on it when the kids were small. We have many good memories. It's a place of peace.'' No caption AUGUST 1993 RG MAGAZINE
