National Gallery to hold family fun day
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gallery has created an Interactive Education System in the upper Mezzanine of the gallery, which will be the focus of Family Fun Day.
This portion of the "Made in Bermuda'' exhibition, currently running at the Gallery, is open to anyone, although it is targeted at children who will be able to interact with the exhibits.
Executive director at the Bermuda National Gallery, Louisa Flannery, said: "Interaction with exhibits is a trend in museum worldwide, and is an exciting method for engaging visitors.
"We're really excited to see how young people and adults will react to and learn from the Interactive Education Stations. I encourage families to come along to our free Family Fun Day and check it out.'' Station topics include furniture, silver, architecture and crafts and will answer questions like: "How are dovetails made? What are Hallmarks? How heavy is a piece of Bermuda Limestone?'' There will also be some of the learn-a-lots video programmes showing topics related to the themes of the exhibition.
The Gallery's Education director and trained docents will be available on Saturday to welcome you to the Made in Bermuda Exhibition.
