Nine students win Gov't scholarships

Those accepting the awards are: Miss Andresa Bashir who is currently pursuing a chemistry degree at the University of Maryland; Miss Lauritta Burrows who plans to get a law degree from Keele University in the United Kingdom; Miss Roslyn Famous who is pursuing a modern languages degree at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.; Miss Victoria Fisher who begins a psychology degree at Brock University in Canada next month; and Miss Kiwana Hill who is pursuing a degree in physiotherapy at Oakwood College in Alabama; Miss Claire Mancell who is pursuing a Commerce degree at Dalhousie University; Miss Raziya Swan who is pursuing a degree in graphic communications at Temple University, Philadelphia; and Miss Sarah Trott who begins a chemistry degree at Dalhousie University next month.
Miss Lynette Powell who begins a business administration degree next month at Acadia University, declined to accept the money after receiving other forms of financial assistance.
Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira congratulated the winners yesterday on their outstanding academic achievement.
