For Ms Gordon was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Law at the University of New Brunswick.

And later she went to Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, to accept her Master of Business Administration degree, earned over two years.

The Premier was invited to give an address at the University of New Brunswick under a new programme of Bachelor of Nursing Degrees won by Bermuda-based nurses who study while at work.

They were the first Bermudian graduates of the special course, tailored to suit people in work already.

Graduates of the course were Synda Lee Cook, Patrice Munselle Dill, Cecilia O'Connell, Kareen Richards, Cheryl Stafford, June Fubler and Beverly Robinson.

And at Queen's University, the Premier was among the first batch of Bermudian graduates from the hi-tech video conferencing external MBA degree course.

The others were nursing administrator Carole Paynter, police officer Alex McDonald and Bermuda Home loan officer Marsha Burrows.
