Artistic roach poachers can also cash in -- with $1,000 for the most creative entry.
Previous entrants have been dressed as Elvis Presley, Batman, or placed in wooden coffins.
The annual event, which attracts interest from as far afield as Australia, Japan, South Africa, and Uruguay, is organised by Combat.
Local representatives, Pied Piper Pest Control, are hoping for big participation by Bermudian households.
Said Ms Valerie Madeiros, spokeswoman for Pied Piper: "It's a deadly serious competition. We would urge as many people as possible to take part. The major prize has increased this year.'' Contest deadline is May 15, and entry forms and information are available from the Pied Piper offices on the third floor of the International Centre, Bermudiana Road.
All roaches must be of the American cockroach species, commonly called the palmetto bug.

Rates for cars range from $158.50 for the smallest Class A car to $731.50 for the largest Class G car.
The new fees are among a number of fee increases approved in the 1992/1993 Budget.
Licence fees for bikes range from $31.50 for private auxiliary cycles to $92.60 for a motorcycle between 126 cc and 150 cc.
Transport Control Department statistics for 1991 show a total of 19,157 private cars, 11,373 motorcycles and 5,825 private auxiliary cycles on the road. The largest number of cars are in the class F group where licence fees are now $611.

Now his lawyer, Mr. Perry Trott, who was yesterday off the Island, has applied for a judicial review to seek to have the execution order quashed. If the application is successful, the case will come back to court.
A spokesman for law firm Hall, Duncan and Trott said a decision on the application should be known shortly.
BEER COST MAN $70 CTS Beer cost man $70 Drinking a beer as he walked along Ord Road, Warwick, cost a man $70 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Michael David Daniels, 24, of South Road, Warwick, pleaded guilty to drinking liquor in a public place on March 19.
Police saw Daniels drinking from a bottle concealed in a brown paper bag, Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said. Daniels threw away the bottle as he saw Police.
ANOTHER YEAR OFF THE ROAD CTS Another year off the road A 22-year-old Pembroke man who claimed he thought he was authorised to drive was yesterday fined $300 and taken off the road for another year.
William Edward Davis, of St. Monica's Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while disqualified on March 27.
Police stopped Davis in the St. Monica's Road area during a routine check and discovered that he was disqualified from driving all motor vehicles until September 19.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis yesterday banned Davis from driving until September 19, 1993.
"And I would caution you to note that date very carefully,'' he told Davis.
