advertisement attacking Government that was placed in The Royal Gazette last week.

Miss Anna Faria, chairman of the PBO, said her organisation was not connected with the ad placed by Mr. Michael Medeiros, the PBO vice-chairman. Mr.

Medeiros said the Portuguese had been "betrayed'' by the United Bermuda Party Government, which had failed to act to provide greater security to long-term residents.

Miss Faria said the PBO had discussed the ad since it appeared, but she had not spoken to Mr. Medeiros.

Mr. Medeiros had promised the newspaper ad was the first salvo in a "media blitz''.

Meanwhile, Shadow Labour and Home Affairs Minister Mr. Alex Scott raised the matter during the Motion to Adjourn in the House of Assembly yesterday.

He understood members of the Portuguese community made representations to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, but there was no response to a document of more than 100 pages that they presented.
