Queen's Birthday holiday to be moved
to also take in the Tall Ships Race which hits Bermuda on June 12.
But the move from the third Monday in the month to the second Monday will become permanent as the Government seeks to come in line with other British territories.
Traditionally the Trooping of the Colour by Her Majesty the Queen takes place in London on the second Saturday in June and the Queen's Birthday Honours and Awards are announced on that day, although in Britain there is no national holiday.
Ministry of Tourism officials are meeting with the Port Committee, who requested a holiday for the race, to make sure combining the Royal celebration and Tall Ships 2000 on the same day does not diminish either.
Schedules are being finalised to accommodate the Queen's birthday parade on Front Street, the Garden Party at Government House, and the annual East/West Comet Class sailing race.
Ships participating in the Tall Ships 2000 will take part in a Parade of Sail spectacular before they depart on the first leg of the contest by heading for the American East Coast.
Cruise ship docking schedules may also be adjusted to give visitors the chance to view the Parade of Sail from Dockyard and St. David's.
