Raising fund for Ming
be a bumper success. It starts at 8 p.m. on ZBM channel 7.
Mr. Ming, executive director of the National Alcohol & Drug Agency, is awaiting a heart transplant in Pittsburgh.
The operation is extremely expensive, said Mrs. Althea Overbey, who heads the Cal Ming Fund-Raising Committee.
She added Mr. Ming expects to be in the US for up to nine months. He will then face a "considerable convalescent time'' at home.
"Few people have touched the lives of so many people in Bermuda as has Cal during his lifelong work fighting the drug problem, and in matters relating to young people,'' said Mrs. Overbey.
"Bermuda is a better place because of his efforts.'' Mrs. Overbey said donations could be paid into accounts at the Bank of Bermuda and Bank of N.T. Butterfield.
