The letter, dated April 13, 1999, came from the Deputy Private Secretary to the Queen, Mrs. Mary Francis.

On behalf of the Queen, she thanked the Government and the people of Bermuda for their kindness in sending her the lilies which were picked by Governor Thorold Masefield and his wife Jennifer at Pacheco's Farm in Devonshire.

The letter expressed the Royal Family's appreciation for the flowers which Mrs. Francis said were still in bloom and have brought great pleasure to them.
