Several of Bermuda's music schools will combine their talents this week when the Saltus Concert Society sponsors `An Autumn Musicale' at the Saltus Grammar

"We have a wonderfully wide range of people appearing,'' says Ruth Henderson, who is Head of Music at Saltus Senior School. "The proceeds from this concert will go toward the Saltus Music Montreal '98 Trip when 40 members of our Wind Band and String Orchestra will pay a return visit to that city's Centennial Regional High School. Some of their band members visited us last year.'' Soprano Julianne Cross, who has recently joined the faculty of the Bermuda Conservatory of Music will be making her debut in the concert, accompanied by Karol Sue Reddington, in a selection of songs by Richard Strauss and William Bolcon.

Diana Hamilton, of the Menuhin Foundation, will perform two movements of Prokofiev's Violin Sonata, also accompanied by Dr. Reddington.

A special clarinet quartet, consisting of Lisa Maule (woodwind teacher at Saltus), Sally Dennis of the Bermuda Academy of Music, Douglas Frith (the Jackson School of Performing Arts) and David Jenkins has been organised by Ms Maule to play a work by Paul Harvey.

Tim Rhodes of Saltus and the Bermuda Academy of Music will perform a Hummel trumpet concerto, accompanied by Mrs. Henderson. Also appearing will be guitarist Steve Crawford from the Academy of Music.

The concert takes place on Friday, November 21 at 7.30 p.m. Tickets at $15 (including refreshments) are available from the Saltus Office (tel. 292-6177) and at the door.
