St. Brendan's parade promises an out-of-this-world event
Everyone loves a parade, especially ones that include costumes, clowns, majorettes and the Gombeys.
This Thursday, locals will get a taste of what's to come on May 24 as St.
Brendan's Hospital presents their annual Pre-Heritage Day Parade.
The parade promises to be an out-of-this world experience thanks to this year's parade theme, `Jammin Into The Millennium'.
St. Brendan's activities coordinator Juliette Basden said many of the hospital's wards, which are participating in the event, decided to create space-age costumes based on themes like Star Wars, `Aliens', Y2K and `Universe and Earth'.
"Everyone is looking forward to it,'' said Ms Basden."It should be a great event.'' Members of the community will also participate in the 6.30 to 9.30 p.m. parade including the majorette groups from St. George's, Warwick, Hamilton Parish and Pembroke.
The Hendrickson Gombeys, Millennium Clowns, the Junior Motorcross Riders, Pets With a Purpose, 200 Millennium Toy Bikes and the Hamilton Path Finders Drum Corps will also take part in Thursday's event.
The parade route will take revellers from the Recycling Plant along Devon Springs Road to St. Brendan's swimming pool.
Spectators will also be able to amuse themselves at a recreation stall and sample tasty treats from the New African food stall and the Volunteer Service Stall.
