Surf Club re-opens next week
training as finishing touches are added to the trendy bar and restaurant.
And its new owners, Chamber of Commerce president Michael Smith and former guesthouse owner Stephen Martin, are counting down to the waterfront venue's opening next Tuesday.
Their injection of fresh energy into the business will present visitors and locals alike with another option for eating and entertainment just as the tourism season hots up for Summer.
The co-owners, who formed Paget Partners to buy the club in a secret deal revealed in The Royal Gazette earlier this month, are optimistic about its future and looking forward to the opening.
While ironing out last minute wrinkles yesterday Mr. Smith said features like the on-site Bermuda Triangle Brewing Co. micro-brewery demanded special training for the staff which would continue until opening day, May 4.
He said the revised menu would introduce the sushi-steakhouse concept which was also new to Bermuda and meant specialised skills for staff had to be learnt.
"This eclectic combination of steakhouse and sushi is a hot new trend in restaurants on both the east and west coasts of the United States and we are pleased to introduce it to the Island,'' he said.
Rounding out the package the Surf Club will feature two shows nightly by well known entertainer Jimmy Keys who has been a major draw to venues in Bermuda for many years.
