Swim-a-thon makes big splash!
close to $20,000 for the Patients Assistance League Service (PALS).
The fundraiser, organised by the Dolphin Swim Team and Bermuda Open Water Swimmers, took place on September 14 in the Harrington Sound.
A total of 152 swimmers collected sponsorships for the swim and an extra $760 was also donated by the Dolphins. The event consisted of four different starting points, but the Palmetto Bay Hotel was the finish line for all. Each distance was divided into separate categories which catered to the age and ability of the participants.
The 10-K race, which began at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo, was won by Kevin Insley who was also recognised as overall champion.
Mr. Insley completed the swim in two hours, 20 minutes and 57 seconds.
The 10-K Open female division was won by Claire Mancell, the male masters by Duncan Newby, the female masters by Linda Dillon, and the junior boys by Stephen Kenny.
