Sixteen-year-olds Elizabeth Edsall, Leon McLean and Bonnie Coy came to Bermuda to work alongside the Aquarium staff during the programme. Each student completed a special study project and participated in Aquarium collecting and research activities.
Although the programme has come to an end Elizabeth and Leon have elected to stay on for another week to take part in the Nonsuch Island natural history camp.
The Marine Internship Programme is sponsored by the Friends of the Bermuda Aquarium Ltd., a recently formed US non-profit corporation.
Friends president Mr. William Loschert said: "The student internship is exactly what we were set up to do, to support shared US/Bermuda programmes in education research and conservation.''
