Thousands raised for junior golfers
worldwide events through a hole-in-one contest.
The 15th Royal Gazette Hole-in-One Tournament was held earlier this month at the Belmont Golf and Country Club and was won by Mr. Alan Martin.
However, the main aim of the event, organised by the Bemruda Junior Golf Association, was to raise cash to help the Island's young golfers.
Association President, Mr. Bob Legere, said: "All the proceeds from this event are used to develop golf schools for young people and enable them to take part in international events.'' This year five junior golfers will be taking part in the Junior World Championships, to be held in North America, and others are going to golf schools abroad.
Overall the Association has a budget of $80,000 and $45,000 is spent on travel expenses for young golfers.
