Participants in the `Read Around the World' cultural reading programme will read all about the world via various books available at the Youth Library.
Each month `travellers' will get the opportunity to learn about a country from a different continent.
October's destination is Egypt and the `travel date' is October 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Youth Library Auditorium.
Children between the ages of nine and 14 may participate. The registration fee is $5 and regestration tickets went on sale last Friday. There are only 30 tickets available.

*** The Bermuda Reading Association will hold its 16th Annual Reading Conference this weekend.
Saturday's Conference will take place at the Sonesta Beach Resort from 9 a.m.
to noon.

*** The Sunshine League will mark its 80th anniversary by hosting a Sunshine Community Day at the Parsons Road Playground from 2 to 7 p.m.
The event will feature food stalls, face painting, fun castles and a senior's tea party.

*** The Bermuda National Gallery presents A Window on the Azores, the first international exhibition of twentieth century Azorean art.
The exhibit, which features a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography and film will be on display at the City Hall gallery until February 2000.
The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with tours commencing at 1 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Admission is free for BNG members and $3 for nonmembers.
*** The Bermuda Business and Professional Women's Club will hold their 17th Biennial Awards Luncheon on October 17 at the Sonesta Beach Hotel.
The 1 p.m. luncheon will see the Sojourner Truth award presented to Elise A.
Davis. Other awards will be presented to Norris Leroy Dowling, Sherri Tucker, Kalmar Richards, Martha Carter, Muriel Archer, Melanie Burrows and Dr. Deborah Tuzo.
