Trust gears up for fund-raiser
Trust director Ms Amanda Outerbridge said the Annual Auction and Jumble Sale would be held at the Botanical Gardens on February 18.
Receiving days for sale items begin next Monday at the Jack King and/or Poultry Building, with the auction preview and jumble sale set for February 16 and 17, beginning at 8.30 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
"Jumble sales attract a very dedicated group of bargain seekers,'' Ms Outerbridge said, "and I believe the Trust has an excellent reputation for hosting one of the best jumbles in Bermuda.'' Last year's sale required half the Jack King Building and was very well attended, she added.
Ms Nancy Murphie, who will be auction chairman for the second year, said the sale would feature some interesting antiques, old jewellery, furniture, and household items. "We have a spectacular china cabinet and a Bermuda cedar chest heading this year's list as well as many, many items which will interest people who collect Bermudian antiques and art. As chairman I want to extend thanks to my volunteers and to all those who have scoured their houses and brought us donations.'' However, she said there was time for the Trust to accept more.
The auction will start at 10 a.m. on February 18 and will continue until all items have been sold.
