Trust walk heads west

with a 7.5 mile trail winding through unspoiled land and private property seldom seen by the public.

The April 12 walk will begin at the US Naval Annex parking area at 2 p.m., proceeding along the railway path to Somerset Bridge before crossing some of Somerset's most exclusive and secluded pieces of real estate.

The walk then heads south to the upper edge of Mr. Stewart Mott's Parapet estate, through the Enfield estate to Cathedral Rocks Point, back through Parapet, Gooseneck Cottage, Scroggins' Bay Point and onto the railway trail to Somerset Bridge.

The walkers will take Wreck Road to Mr. Robert Stigwood's Wreck House, then back to the Naval Annex.

Organisers expect 2,000 to 3,000 walkers, and will set up refreshment areas along the way.

BBC TO PRESENT ELECTION SPECIAL RAO BBC to present election special Bermuda residents will be able to hear special radio coverage of the UK general election next week thanks to the BBC World Service.

Programmes will be broadcast on April 9 between 6.05 and 6.55 p.m.; 7.15 and 8 p.m.; 8.05 and 9 p.m.; 9.05 and 10 p.m. and 10.30 and 11 p.m.

On April 10, reports can be heard between 6.30 and 7 a.m. and 8.00 and 9.45 a.m.

Regular news bulletins on both April 9 and 10 will also focus on election results.

TRAVEL AGENT CAUGHT WITH DRUGS CTS Travel agent caught with drugs A 29-year-old travel agent from Pennsylvania was fined $400 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after he brought 2.8 grams of cannabis into the Island.

Richard Lerner, of Allentown, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and cigarette papers on March 28 when he arrived at the Civil Air Terminal. Police prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Lerner arrived at 12.20 p.m. and was searched soon afterwards.

A plastic bag, found in Lerner's right sock, contained plant material and cigarette papers. A small quantity was also found in his wallet.

Yesterday Lerner apologised to the court for his actions, describing them as "irresponsible.'' Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Lerner $300 for the cannabis and $100 for the papers.

WAR VOLUNTEER DIES IN UK OBT War volunteer dies in UK Mrs. Florence Perryman, who was awarded for her voluntary work in Bermuda during the Second World War, has died in Cornwall, aged 92.

The Plymouth-born mother-of-two, known as "Auntie Flo,'' arrived in Bermuda in 1937.

She stayed here until 1945 with her husband and daughters, carrying out voluntary work for the Red Cross and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire.

In recognition of her wartime work she was awarded a special certificate.

Twice-married Mrs. Perryman continued her community work when she returned to England, working with Age Concern and Darby and Joan groups.

A funeral service was held at Weston Mill Crematorium in Cornwall.

TEENAGER ON SEX CHARGE CTS Teenager on sex charge A 19-year-old Sandys Parish man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday, accused of having unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl under the age of 14.

The youth was not required to plead and was released on $800 bail with one surety.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis also ordered that the youth report to Somerset Police Station each Monday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He was told to return to plea court for mention on April 14.
